How many can you eat?

We’re quickly approaching Labor Day and Crystal Square wants to know if you have plans?

Labor Day always involves food for me, well any holiday does. For good reason too, I really enjoy cooking but this Labor Day I want to do something different and I’ve found a great event! The Labor Day Burger Eating Contest at Whitlow’s on Wilson!

An eating contest? Yea I know and while I won’t be participating in the contest it’ll definitely be something to watch! I wonder how many burgers the winner will eat?

Celebrate your Dog!

Posted on August 26, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Today is National Dog Day! Here are Crystal Sqaure Apartment Homes we are a pet-friendly community and we want to help you celebrate!

Personally I’m more of a dog person, mostly because I’m allergic to cats. Dogs are some of the sweetest creatures, they are always willing to be there for you and they are willing to make you smile! We have some great ways to help you celebrate National Dog Day in the best way!

  1. Post pictures on our Facebook page of your furry friend! Let’s see how cute your dog is!
  2. Buy your dog a special treat, either a new dog toy or a yummy snack!
  3. Take your dog out to the park and give your dog some exercise! They’ll love it!
  4. Pamper your puppy by giving them a bath or taking them to the pet salon.
  5. Don’t have a dog but want one? How about adopting or rescuing a dog!

Hope you have a great National Dog Day!

Depending on the restaurant, these are they types of steak I’ll get. If a restaurant tends to overcook their steak I’ll order it to be taken off the grill earlier and so forth with other restaurants. But there’s been only ONE restaurant to get my steak how I originally want it, medium.

A medium steak should have a thick band of light pink through the middle but be more browned than pink

Ruth Chris Steakhouse has the best USDA steaks in Arlington VA! Hands down my favorite place to go to when I’m craving steak. However I do have to save up when I head to Ruth Chris Steakhouse, their steaks cost a pretty penny (but are definitely worth it).

Now my favorite steak isn’t the Filet Mignon…it’s the Ribeye! I love how the steak is perfectly marbled and the taste is something else! What kind of steak do you enjoy and how do you like it cooked?

No worries and No shoes!

Don’t have a pair of running shoes? No worries! You don’t have to run with traditional shoes, you can run with Vibram Five Fingers!

You have shoes on when you get Vibram Five Fingers but your basically running barefoot! It’s truly awesome what these shoes do for your feet! You train your feet to do what they were supposed to do, support you!

The typical human foot is an anatomical marvel of evolution with 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 muscles, and hundreds of sensory receptors, tendons and ligaments. Like the rest of the body, to keep our feet healthy, they need to be stimulated and exercised.

When I bought my pair of Vibram Five Fingers, I noticed a difference completely. My knees didn’t hurt as badly and my feet definitely became stronger!

You can buy your Vibram Five Fingers either online or at Hudson Trail Outfitters. Hudson Trail is at Pentagon Row and very close to Crystal Square Arlington!

Eating at the Portofino!

Posted on August 3, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Italian food happens to be one of my favorite types of food. I think I enjoy it mostly because of the pasta, the sauces and spices…well all of it. Recently I headed down to the Portofino and was definitely impressed.

A family owned and operated Italian restaurant established in 1970 offering the finest in cuisine and atmosphere. Our family recipes delight the palate and attract the eye.

Upon entering the Portofino I knew my time there would be an enjoyment. I had the Tortellini al Suo Piacere. My sauce was an Alfredo sauce and it was made to perfection. As they say their homemade recipes keep people coming back for more.
